Adding a Lamp bead to a Spiral Rope
In the directions below, the new added thread path from the last frame is shown in red. new beads added are outlined in green. Again this is the type of spiral rope with a 8/0 core bead and 5 11/0 seed beads added in each cyle as explained in Reinforcing a spiral Rope.
1. After the spiral rope has reached sufficient
length, add a 6/0 seed, then the lamp bead, then another 6/0
seed onto the thread. Sometimes you can use a 8/0 as buffer
beads, but lamp beads tend to have big holes because of the
mandrel they are made on. the purpose of the buffer beads is
to keep the seed beads out of the big hole of the lamp
beads. 2. Add one 8/0 seed bead, and 2 11/0 seed beads to the
thread and looping along the outside of the 8/0 seed bead.
go back through then 6/0 buffer bead, the lamp bead, the
other 6/0 seed bead, and 3 8/0 core beads, then
emerge. 3. Add 5 11/0 seed (or as pictured 2 11/0 seeds, a
Czech teardrop, then 2 more 11/0 seeds. Looping along the
outside, enter the the 6/0 buffer bead, the lamp bead, the
other 6/0 buffer bead, then emrge trhough the 8/0 seed bead
added in frame 2. 4. Add a 8/0 core bead, 4 11/0 seeds onto the thread.
Loop back through by entering the 6/0 buffer bead, the lamp
bead, the other 6/0 buffer bead, then through 2 8/0 core
beads before re-emerging. 5. Add 4 11/0 seeds onto the thread, then loop bacj
trhough by entering the 6/0 buffer bead, the lamp bead, tthe
other buffer bead, and 2 8/0 core beads before
re-emerging. 6. This frame show hopw now one 8/0 core bead, 2 11/0
seeds, a teardrop bead, and 2 11/0 sseds have been added
onto the thread. 7. The beads added in frame 6 are outline in green
now. You loop through the 6/0 seed, through the lamp bead,
the other 6/0 buffer bead, and through 2 8/0 core beads
before emrging. 8. You add 4 11/0 seeds onto the thread, and enter the
6/0 buffer bead, the lamp bead, the other buffer bead and
through 3 8/0 core beads. 9. Hopefully you are getting the idea how you are
adding shortened segments of the shell to either side of the
lamp bead so that by going back and forth like this there is
enough thread to support the weight of the lamp bead. The
last 2 additons are shown in this frame. You add one 8/0
core bead2 11/0 seeds, a teardop, 2 11/0 seeds then enter
the buffer bead go back though so that this time you only go
though one 8/0 bead. Add 2 11/0 seeds. Enter the buffer bead
and come through to the other side though the last 8/0 core
bead. now yoiu resume patteern of the spiral rope.
